The origin of the name TE AND CHA

TE AND CHA (テ・アンド・チャ)の由来

The word expressing tea can be divided to two series “TE” and “CHA”. The origin comes from the chinese character “茶” and the difference of the pronunciation comes from each areas accent.
The “TE” from Fujian has been shipped to Europe and became “Thé”, “Tea”.
The “CHA” from Guangdong has been carried through the silk road to the west and became “Cha” , “Chai”. All black tea , green tea and oolong tea are made out of one tree , ”Camellia sinensis”. Various tea are all made out of one tree. The difference are the way they are made.
Although there are different names , different ways to make , they are all the same “Tea”. We too , may have different color , different culture , different thoughts , but are all same “Human”. Wishing “ Lets all be friends , Lets enjoy the difference ”, I’ve named ourselves “ TE and CHA ”.

　世界で茶を意味する言葉は、「TE」と「CHA」、二つの系統にわける事が できます。その語源は「茶」という漢字の、地方による発音の違い。
　福建省の「テ」は、海路を通じてヨーロッパ方面に運ばれ、「テ」、 「ティー」などになりました。
　広東省の「チャ」は、陸路（シルクロード）を通じて西に広がり 「チャ」、「チャイ」などとして定着しました。
　また、一つのお茶の木（カメリア・シネンシス）から、紅茶も緑茶も烏龍 茶もできます。
作り方の違いで、同じお茶の木から、ここにあるいろんなお茶が 作れるんです。
いろんな呼び方、いろんな作り方があっても、もとは同じお茶。
私たちも、いろんな肌の色、文化、考え方の違いがあっても、同じ人間です よね。
「みんな仲良くしましょう、違いを楽しみましょう」という願いを込めて、 「テ・アンド・チャ」。
